Projects

We’re just getting started …

Guatemala Cleanups

We support river, beach, and mangrove cleanups in Guatemala. We work along the Achiguate and Maria Linda Rivers which are some of the dirtiest rivers in the world.

This has a huge impact on preventing plastic from entering the ocean and also helps Guatemala’s tourism, infrastructure, and human health.

These cleanups also allow us to support full-time employment for people in Guatemala where poverty and unemployment rates are very high.

Improving lives of ocean-bound plastic collectors

We help collectors of ocean-bound plastic earn more and improve their standard of living. This allows them to collect more plastic and receive proper appreciation for their work.

For every pound of plastic collected we give a 30% bonus that collectors can use to buy groceries, school tuition, refrigerators, efficient cooking stoves, and much much more.

Firewood collection/mangrove protection

Doing beach cleanups we realized that there is a lot of wood that washes up on the beach. Because of this we had the idea to collect firewood on the beach and give it to the community. Not only does this clean Guatemala’s beaches, it also helps protect Guatemala’s mangrove forests which are rapidly being cut down.

Utah Lake Cleanups - Summer 2024

June 2024

We had a huge turnout! With 20+ people participating we were able to collect 370 pounds of trash in about an hour. Thanks for everyone that showed up!

MAY 2024

The RTF leads local efforts in its home community of Utah County (Utah, USA), to gather trash around the perimeter of Utah Lake. The RTF remains committed to protecting waterways and natural landscapes from being tainted by carelessly discarded garbage.
